Computer Science
About the Major
Computer Science is the study of algorithmic
processes: their theory, analysis, design, efficiency,
implementation, and application.
While implementation is an important aspect
of Computer Science, programming is not the
central goal of the Computer Science discipline.
And, although applications are the
touchstone of the computer, Computer
Science is not limited to learning applications.
Computer Science is a rapidly evolving discipline.
The major reflects this by providing a
conceptual framework which equips students
for a lifetime of learning and a career within
the discipline.
The program is strengthened by its participation
in the cooperative Mathematical Sciences
program with Bethel College.

Hot Career Prospects
Even in times of economic recession, the top four “fastest growing industries” are in the computer/information systems fields, based on wages, career opportunities and employment growth projections though 2012 [www.bls.gov]. The growth rate is reported to be as high as 76% in some states.
“The CS program at Tabor deserves all the credit for providing me with the appropriate foundation to feel competent the instant I started my current job as a software engineer.” – Scott Friesen (g’04)
