Dr. John Fea, Professor of History at Messiah University in Mechanicsburg, Pa., will present the seventh Exaudio lecture on October 2, 2023, on the Tabor College Campus. His theme is TBD.

Dr. John Fea

John Fea (Ph.D., Stony Brook University, 1999) is a Distinguished Professor of American History at Messiah University in Mechanicsburg, Penn., where he has taught since 2002.

He is the author of six books, including Was America Founded as a Christian Nation: A Historical Introduction (Westminster/John Knox Press, 2011, which was one of three finalists for the George Washington Book Prize, one of the largest literary prizes in the United States.

John is also co-editor (with Jay Green and Eric Miller) of  Confessing History: Explorations in Christian Faith and the Historian’s Vocation. (University of Notre Dame Press, 2010) and his book Why Study History?: Reflecting on the Importance of the Past was published in 2013 with Baker Academic. J

John’s essays and reviews on the history of American culture have appeared in The Journal of American History, The Atlantic, The Chronicle of Higher Education, The William and Mary QuarterlyThe Journal of the Early RepublicSojourners, Christianity Today, and Christian Century, and Common Place.  He has also written for The Washington PostUSA Today, The Philadelphia Inquirer, Fox News, CBS News, New York Daily News, the Houston Chronicle, and other newspapers. He blogs daily at The Way of Improvement Leads Home, a blog devoted to American history, religion, politics, and academic life, and serves as the Executive Editor of Current, an online magazine of opinion and commentary.

John has lectured widely at colleges and universities across the country and speaks regularly to churches, school and teacher groups, civic groups, and historical societies. He has appeared on NBC News, CNN, C-SPAN,  MSNBC, National Public Radio, and dozens of radio programs across the country.

About Exaudio: Listen and Live

The Tabor Lectureship in Vocation and Service is an annual academic lectureship in which a scholar is invited to present a meaningful expression of Christian discipleship that arises from their professional discipline. The purpose of the lectureship is to challenge and encourage believers in their individual and collective calling of work and service for Christ and his kingdom. The term exaudio is a Latin word that means to listen, comprehend, and respond faithfully.
