Whooo weeee has it been a wild time here at Tabor, and away from Tabor as well.
To start with, choir tour. I had an amazing time! We started in Tulsa, OK, on March 30th. I was very happy to be in Tulsa singing because my uncle Steve lives there, and I have some friends from high school in the area. They all came out to hear us sing during the Sunday morning services at the First Baptist Church in downtown Tulsa.
That Sunday night we then traveled to Edmond, Ok and sang in the Memorial Road MB Church. That night I stayed with a wonderful couple, the Blough’s, their kids all went to Tabor. That night there were tornadic storms going north of Oklahoma City, so before they came through we had the brilliant idea of jumping in their pool. Keep in mind this is March in the Midwest, the water was only about 55 degrees.
The next day we traveled to Corn, OK. We sang for the high school and middle school students at Corn Bible Academy. They were very enthusiastic (although I think they just wanted to be out of class longer). I stayed with the same couple for two nights. They had a 102 year old farm house about 10 miles from any light. That first night the three of us staying there went out for a run. I had to stop and look at the stars. I had never seen so many!
We stayed for two nights because the next day we traveled to Cordell, Ok. Approximately 20 miles away. When we get there I decide that I’m going to be the good track athlete and go hurdle. I take my friend Katie and we go in search of the track, I had an idea of were the high school was, but not the track. As we get closer I see lights so I assume that to be the football field. We walk all the way around the outside of the of fence and when we get to the open gate, they don’t have a track! By this time it was getting late and we had to get back to the church for dinner.
This brings me to Wednesday. We are in Fairview I skip lunch and I go with fellow choir member Megan Souter, who is from Fairview, to the high school track. I finally get my workout. Her dad then pics us up and we go with the bus driver, and get Pizza Hut. We had a lot of time that afternoon to relax so Kayla Vix Jenny and I get out my computer and we have fun taking pictures.
That night I stayed with the Bell’s. They are really nice people. Their son dated a girl from my church for a while actually.
The next day we went to Enid. My dad came down to hear us. He was leaving the next morning for San Antonio. He had row 13 final four tickets. Needless to say I was jealous. My dad and I both stayed with his good friend Randy Hamm. The choir guys all went out to the hot tub and chilled for a long time that night, it was great!
The next day we go to my church in Wichita. But I, being the good track athlete that hasn’t done much work, go out to my high school track and do a quick pre-meet workout. The problem was there was a JV meet at the same time, so I had to dodge a lot of freshman runners.
After the concert that night I was so exhausted from the crazy week that is choir tour, but no, I had to get up the next morning and run at Friends.
