Lady Jays Face Fierce Competition
The Tabor College Women’s Basketball team traveled to the Hesston Elementary school to visit the 4th grade class of Nicole Olsen (Ellis g’07). Each member of the class was assigned one of the players to track their statistics throughout the basketball season. The class used this exercise to learn about division, percentages, and means.
The lady jays spent part of the afternoon reading short stories to the students. The students also had an opportunity to read stories that they had written to the players. The afternoon was capped off by a fun, yet competitive game of knock-out!
The Tabor College women’s basketball team seeks to support the mission of the college by instilling in our players the principle of servant leadership.

Feb. 27
Tabor College may have lost their season finale to Kansas Wesleyan, but they won when it matter. Tabor College defeated Kansas Wesleyan 52-47 in the quarterfinals of the KCAC conference tournament.
Tabor led after the first half by the score of 32-21 on 53% shooting. After the half, KW switched to a zone which caused Tabor lots of problems offensively. Tabor couldn’t get many good looks and shot 33% in the second half.
With the score 48-47 with less then twenty seconds left in the game, Tabor ran the shot clock down to one second when Stacie Herman hit a running jumper with one second on the shot clock to put Tabor up by three. That’s all Tabor needed to hold onto the victory.
Stacie Herman had a huge game as she led all scorers with 19 points. Jordan Crosson played a solid game in the post contributing 9 points.
Tabor will next play March 1st against Sterling College in Sterling.
Feb. 23
Kansas Wesleyan (12-16, 9-9) led wire-to-wire in its regular season finale 54-41 win over Tabor College on Saturday night at Muir Gym.
Tabor (11-17, 10-8) used a pair of Kirsten Watson free throws with 10:15 left to get within three, and a three from Stacie Herman to cut the KWU lead to one with 6:56 left at 18-17, capping a 13-4 run.
Katie Mount would get Tabor back within nine on a free throw with 13:53 left, but a decisive 13-4 run capped by a pair of Kaylaen Dittmer free throws saw the Coyotes take an 18-point cushion, 45-27, with 8:16 left.
Tabor could get no closer than 11 the rest of the way, the last time coming at the 1:20 mark on a bucket from Herman.
Herman had 17 to lead Tabor as the only player in double figures for the Bluejays as they struggled from the field, only hitting 16-of-58 shots for 27.6 percent. Herman and Jordon Crosson led Tabor with four rebounds each.
The Coyotes will travel back to Hillsboro on Wednesday to face the Bluejays for the third time this season. Tabor is the no.4 seed in this year’s tournament. The winner of that game will face the winner of no.1 seeded Sterling and the winner of Monday’s Saint Mary at Ottawa play-in game.

If it were not for the poor shooting the Lady Bluejays stayed close in almost every statistical category. They had one less rebound and assist then Sterling, and less turnovers.
Sterling beat them where it counted by shooting better percentages from the field, behind the arc, and from the free throw line.
Tabor will be back in action at Kansas Wesleyan Saturday night. The women tip-off at 5 p.m. with the men following at 7 p.m.
