“Prepare the Way” Homecoming Preview

It’s time for Homecoming! “Prepare the Way” theme comes from “Godspell” our musical for this year. Come reunite with family, friends, alumni on Oct. 2-6, 2013.

Some traditional Homecoming activities occurring this year include: student art shows, children’s activities, 2-mile/5K fun run/walk, the Dutch Lunch, the musical “Godspell” and multiple sporting events.

Music Fest performs Saturday at 10 a.m. Come enjoy some excellent musical selections in the Wohlgemuth Rehearsal Hall at no cost.

One of the most anticipated events of this year’s Homecoming is “Godspell,” the final musical Judy Harder will direct for Tabor. “Godspell” is an “uplifting and joyous musical loosely based on teachings and parables found in the Gospel of Matthew,” said Harder, director and associate professor, communications. Performances will be Wednesday-Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. To reserve tickets contact the Tabor College Student Life office at (620) 947-3121 Ext. 1033.

Tabor College Golf Classic is held in Wichita at Reflection Ridge Golf Course Friday Oct. 4. Coffee and donuts will be served beginning at 8 a.m. and the classic will begin at 9 a.m.

Homecoming Festival Dinner is Friday at 6:30 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Wichita, KS. Michael Woods, Landon Tucker, and Jonathan Regier, all professionally using their talents on stage, return to perform a fun-filled comedy using audience participation. Cheerleaders will be providing free child care at the Exploration Place while parents enjoy connecting with old friends and classmates.

Volleyball will play Sterling College at 11:30 a.m.

Baseball and Softball alumni will have reunions with the coaches and current teams at 11 a.m. and are instructed to meet by the water tower.

The football team will take on Southwestern at 2 p.m. in Joel Wiens Stadium.

At halftime, the Homecoming will announce the host and hostess, reception for Dr. Kyle, Art Show by Derek Hamm in the historic church, plus inflatables for children.

The last sporting event of the day will be men’s and women’s soccer against the University of St. Mary, and these games are free of charge. The women’s game begins at 6 p.m. and the men’s at 8 p.m.
