Education
M.A. in Education Counseling & B.A. in History from University of Redlands, Redlands, CA
Positions
I’m originally from St. Louis (Go Cards!!) but left when I was four and moved to California when I was six. We lived just up the street from my wonderful Christian grandparents who showered my brothers and me with chocolate chip cookies, ice cream, and restaurant lunches after church.
I got my BA in History in 1996 from the University of Redlands in Redlands, CA. In January 1998 I started my first coaching job as an Assistant Track Coach at the U of R and at the end of the season was hired as the Graduate Assistant for the Cross Country and Track teams. I finished my MA in Education Counseling in the summer of 2000 and began the next school year as the Head Cross Country/Track & Field Coach at Arrowhead Christian Academy, also in Redlands.
It was about half way through the first of my two years coaching at ACA that I met and fell in love with Kimberly. We got engaged January 6, 2002 after a lengthy and mostly well-planned proposal, though my “You’re going to have the best date of your life” comment apparently didn’t leave her on the edge of her seat with anticipation because immediately after she said yes she took me to her apartment for brownies with “As you wish” written in large frosting letters. We got married in July later that year and moved to Escondido, CA in the San Diego area where I began working as a personal trainer.
I eventually began coaching again and after stints at two high schools in Escondido I was hired as the Head Cross Country/Track & Field Coach at West LA College in Culver City. Although the campus was just down the street from the Sony Studios movie lot I never saw any movie stars, but I did get recruited to be in an episode of a short-lived cable reality show as a speed walking coach. I resumed working as a personal trainer while at West LA and eventually began coaching at Santiago Canyon College, where I was before coming to Tabor.
Our son Wilson was born in February 2008 and has been the chubby love of our lives ever since. We’re looking forward to the arrival of our second child sometime around New Year’s and expect that it will be just as kissable and ticklish as Wilson has been. As much as I love running I also enjoy taking the extra base in softball and playing my guitar. I’m also told that I need to include “I hope to skydive someday” and “We would like to take a white-water rafting trip as a family.”
